See below a collection of photos taken from section 127 of Audi Field during the opening match of the 2026 NWSL season featuring the Washington Spirit and Racing Louisville FC. A single, brilliant Trinity Rodman goal gave the Spirit all three points, though the match was much more exciting than the 1-0 scoreline suggests. The Spirit consistently won key battles in the middle and defensive thirds, keeping Louisville from generating any major goal threats (outside of an overturned penalty call). Realistically, the Spirit could have won this game by two or three more, but maintaining the clean sheet and holding on for a second win in a row after a slow start to the season is more than worth the low scoreline. There’s still a long way to go before the conversations over a third straight final appearance begin, but the Spirit are definitely starting to look more like themselves.
